Privacy statement
In the exercise of its activities as law firms, GRAND LAWYERS BV (responsible for processing) processes personal data of its clients in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) and the National Law of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to personal data processing. More precisely, it concerns in principle the first and last name, sex, place and date of birth, address, telephone and/or fax number, email address, bank account number and all other public or confidential information provided by the client and necessary for the provision of services. If the defence of the case so requires, other special and/or sensitive date brought to the attention of the client or obtained in the context of the activities of the firm may (for example legal or medical information) also be processed.
The processing of the personal data is only done for one of the following purposes: (a) when it is necessary for the execution of the mandate given by the client and within the exercise of the activities as a law firm, (b) in the framework of the organization of an office in her contacts with associated suppliers, trainees, employees, staff members and where provided and other related third parties, and (c) when the processing requires to comply with legal obligations (for example accounting-).
The duration of the processing the preservation is no longer than absolutely necessary. In general, case-related documents must be kept for 5 years after closing the file. Some personal data, the identification and allowing contact afterwards, will be kept for a longer period, even if only with the intention of being able to rule out possible conflicts of interest afterwards. In the event where the concerned person is a correspondent which belongs to the network of experts of the office, the data will be kept, as long as our activities take place. The personal data of those who maintain a contractual relationship with the office will be kept as long as this relationship exists.
Except in case of a legal obligation or if the handling of the case requires disclosure to third parties (especially correspondence), the personal data will be kept at all times secret within the office.
The client has the right to consult, to modify, to erase the stored personal data or to limit its storage. As well the client can ask to obtain the processed personal data in legible form.
The possibility exists to formulate an objection against the processing of personal data. Such initiative has to be done in writing to the above named processing controller at info@grand-lawyers.be. The request is granted within one month. However the office has the right to renew this period with two months and will notify this extension within one month of receipt of the request.
